Welcome to another installment of Tuesday’s Obscure Car of the Day. This week it will be tough to distract from Katy Perry’s big rack as posted on the post below but I will do my best.
Today’s car is powered by Volvo as a recreation and celebration of Hot Rodding Glory Days. The 4.4 Liter V8 Speedster was developed by Caresto to display at SEMA. The car features a mid-engine ethanol-powered Volvo V8 powerplant called “Sportrod”, as previously displayed in the 2006 SEMA version.
The car is a sports car with a design idiom that is a further development from a classic Hotrod. It is intended to be as much fun to drive as it is to look at. Excellent road handdling with an ideal 60/40 weight distribution along with a complete aluminum and carbon fiber sports-car chassis featuring Öhlin shock absorbers all round compliment the road manners. It has 311 HP on a 2646 lb body (8.5 lbs per HP)
The interior is leather with a nostalgic retrospective feel. The steering wheel, instruments and gear selector come from Volvo, as do the V8 engine, the six-speed automatic transmission and the car’s electrical system.
