Joell Ortiz – Covers The Classics: The Mixtape Everyone Is Talking About

13 May

Joell Ortiz officially dr0pped his mixtape, “Covers The Classics“, which is hosted by DJ Green Lantern.   This is one of the hottest mixtapes I have heard in AWHILE.  Any Hip Hop head can appreciate this mixtape.  All the beats he raps over are hip hop classics from Rakim, EPMD, Gangstarr to Slick Rick, Naughty by Nature, and Pete Rock…and the list keeps rolling.  One of my favorite tracks is where Ortiz pays homage to DJ Premier on “Primo Tribute” by rapping over one of his beats.  Joell Ortiz proves with this mixtape that he is one of the illest MC’s in the game right now.  Don’t believe me?  Take a listen… Link is below the tracklist
